Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart completed his Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550 in July 1788. The “Great G minor symphony” and the “Little G minor symphony” are the only two symphonies in minor key composed by Mozart. In a second version of this symphony Mozart added a clarinet part and changed the oboe parts.
